Bruno Magalhães leading Rally Vinho Madeira
Bruno Magalhães is leading Rally Vinho Madeira after finishing the first special stage, Avenida do Mar – CINM. The Hyundai i20 R5 driver did not have the most exuberant performance, but still managed to beat, with little more than a second of difference, the previous special stage record, a special stage that has been, for a long time now, the opening event of the Club Sports of Madeira organized competition.
Standing in second place, but a second behind Magalhães, was Ricardo Teodósio at the wheel of his Skoda Fabia R5, another driver to have shown a “clean” driving thinking about results. In front of many dozens of thousands of spectators, Armindo Araújo was the author of the third best timing, ahead of the best Madeiran, Pedro Paixão. Giandomenico Basso obtained only the fifth best score with an advantage of only a tenth of a second over the debuting “Pepe” Lopez. From drivers thought of as favourite to victory, José Pedro Fontes is seventh, Miguel Nunes eighth and Alexandre Camacho only twelfth. The public’s “hero” was, nonetheless, António Dias in a Skoda Fabia R5, who delighted the public with his long skids.
