Alexandre Camacho leads Rali Vinho da Madeira
Alexandre Camacho, driving a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, is the leader of the Rali Vinho da Madeira after the first special stage of the event. Kris Meeke started the day keeping the lead he had since yesterday, but crashed in the first passage through Palheiro Ferreiro, a stage in which Giandomenico Basso moved to the front. Completing the first of two rounds that made up a day in which several records were broken, Camacho jumped into the lead and, despite Basso's attacks, will start the final day of competition with a 7.6-second lead over the competition.
Third place is occupied by José Pedro Fontes, in a Citroën C3 Rally2, the best in the accounts for the national championship of the sport which has, at this stage, Ricardo Teodósio and Armindo Araújo, fifth and sixth absolute, respectively, as those who may collect other better scores on this journey. In fourth position but growing in the rally is Simone Campedelli, who will start the last day 13.8 seconds from the podium.
Also improving is from Spain Diego Ruiloba, who is sixth in the Citroën C3 Rally2 with which he usually takes part in his country's championship. On this day also marked by the abandonment of Miguel Nunes after a touch, the top ten also includes the leader of the Portuguese championship at the start of this event, Miguel Correia, and the brothers Pedro and Paulo Meireles.
Rali Vinho da Madeira ends tomorrow after the second and biggest stage, a double round through Câmara de Lobos, Ponta do Sol, Calheta and Rosário.
