PSP security operation involves 800 personnel

The details of the security operation set up for Rali Vinho da Madeira were finalised today. The meeting, which took place at the Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police, brought together those responsible for the security of the RVM and members of the PSP in charge of the operation that will take place during the week of the rally and which involves around 800 members of this security force, including agents, chiefs and officers.

Commissioner José Fernandes has some recommendations for the public attending the event:

- Respect road access and closure times;

- Respect the instructions of the organisers and PSP officers;

- Do not go into prohibited or dangerous areas;

- Avoid excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages;

- Pay attention to the opening of the section, which only takes place after the organisation and the Public Security Police have given the go-ahead, and not when the ‘sweeper Car’ passes;

- Park in appropriate places so as not to hinder the free flow of traffic on the secondary roads to the special stages.

The PSP will be on the lookout for illegal races, speeding and drifting at this time, monitoring and taking action to deal with such behaviour.
