It crosses the island on the imaginary line between São Vicente and Ribeira Brava from Rosário to Serra d'Água, passing through Encumeada. It requires a lot of driving on the climb up to Encumeada and then great temerity on the vertiginous descent to the finish. It's one of the special stages that attracts the most spectators at the Rally.
