Diogo Soares, Madeira, has lived in the mainland, in Benfica, and this year achieved the dream of participating in the Rali Vinho da Madeira. In the continental territory, he has already done several tests and was also the winner, in 2016, of the DS3 R1 Trophy Challenge. He was elected by the AMAK as an up and coming driver for 2016.

At this event, he will be behind the wheel of a Peugeot 208 R2, a new car for the driver who tends to compete with a Citroen DS3. "Last year we had already shown interest in coming here, but it has not been possible. This year we got sponsorship, let's see how it goes. It's a new car, a new rally" he stated.

Being champion last year in the DS3 R1 Trophy Challenge alongside Luís Rodrigues, this season they are also leading it and everything is pointing to be champions again this year, in September.

Coming to Madeira to compete in this event is a dream come true for the 21-year-old. "It is a rally that I follow since childhood. It is the rally of our homeland and I think I'd like to be running and have my parents and friends watching", he confessed.

Diogo Soares also praised the fact that they are competing among great talented drivers in different categories. "I think we're going to have a really good challenge," he stressed.
