The 2022 edition of the Rali Vinho da Madeira introduces a few changes, comparing it with a recent past. One of those changes is in Campo de Golfe, the first of the two starting rounds on Friday, 5th August. The special stages 2 and 4 are now more extensive, with 11,41 km. The initial part of the stage remains the same with the start line near Campo de Golfe do Santo da Serra and foresees, right after, the descent of the road until the Fonte de Santo António.
From there, the drivers race towards the Ribeira de Machico, on the left, to Lombo das Faias and then the road until Portela, with the well-known “snail”, all the way down to Referta, near Porto da Cruz. This last road hasn’t been used for the rally, organized by Club Sports da Madeira, for a few years and promises to bring, with its very technical inclined descent as well as possible changes in the weather conditions, a greater challenge to the caravan.
