José Paulo Fontes, presidente da Comissão Organizadora do Rali Vinho Madeira, mostrou-se entusiasmado com a realização de mais uma edição da prova, apesar de todas as contingências que impossibilitam atingir outros patamares.

“Somos modestos, mas não somos medíocres e, por isso, o Rali Vinho Madeira continua a ser o maior evento sócio-desportivo da Região e mantém o brilho e o prestígio a nível internacional”, salientou, referindo-se também à lista de 55 inscritos para a edição de 2016: “Temos concorrentes que garantem, certamente, espetáculo e muita luta na estrada.”

Em termos de divulgação, do rali e da Madeira, José Paulo Fontes voltou a salientar a importância do TER – Tour European Rally. “Somos um dos fundadores desta nova experiência que ao nível da promoção vai chegar a 40 países, através de transmissões em canais desportivos”.

Neste contexto, destaque também para as transmissões regionais, nacionais e internacionais da RTP-Madeira, para a cobertura da EuroSport e do acompanhamento da equipa Movielight, que cede imagens aos diversos canais nacionais.

O presidente da Comissão Organizadora do aproveitou a ocasião para agradecer aos patrocinadores que mantêm a aposta no RVM.

Kátia Carvalho, Regional Tourism Director, praised the role of Rali Vinho Madeira as “sports event that enhances the contact of madeiran and the tourists, providing thus the interest of those who visit us and, at the same time, allowing for an extraordinary publicizing of Madeira, abroad”.

The Regional Youth and Sport Director, David Gomes, said that the leading motorsports event “is a cultural hallmark of the Region, that deserved to be on another level, but will for sure reach the place it deserves”.

Miguel Silva Gouveia, Funchal councilman, praised the work of the organization “taking to the road a rally that is so good in promoting the city, through unique images, captured all along the event, that help promote Funchal”.

José Pedro Fontes is number 1

Concerning the drivers' numbers, presented in this Press Conference at Empresa de Cervejas da Madeira, José Pedro Fontes, current national champion and leader of the national championship, has number 1. Pedro Meireles, second placed, takes number 2.

Alexandre Camacho, current Regional Champion, will have number 4, while Bruno Magalhães, winner of last year's edition of Rali Vinho Madeira, has number 7.

The first foreigner going to the road is Robert Consani, number 9. The frenchman Romain Dumas will be number 11.

José Paulo Fontes said also that priority was given to Miguel Nunes, who will have number 8 and that the Porsche cars are leaving all together. “Those that have been approved will get point for the FIA event, the other ones not, but start in the same group”.
