Rui J. Fernandes and João Silva leading
Rui Jorge Fernandes, in a Renault Clio R3T, and João Silva, in the national debut of the Renault Clio Rally4, are leading in Rali Vinho da Madeira. These drivers are ahead in the standings for the two-wheel drive and have mastered their groups, respectively, RC3 and RC4.
Filipe Freitas is the leader of the RGT group, where three competitors race with a Porsche 993 GT3, after a morning where the drawbacks in controlling the power of the German car in slippery roads were clear.
Ricardo Gonçalves, with a Renault Clio Rally5, is isolated in the RC5 group, but has been improving his standing as he is getting used to his car, which he is driving for the first time in this competition, organized by Club Sports da Madeira.
During the first stage, four drivers, Francisco Santana Castro, José Jarimba, Gil Freitas and Américo Gouveia, withdrew from the competition, due to mechanical issues.
