Alexandre Camacho sets a record in the Rali Vinho da Madeira
Alexandre Camacho became the only driver to have won the Rali Vinho da Madeira on five occasions. The driver of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo had been in the lead of the classification during most of the first stage, but he lost that position at the end of Friday, due to the difficult weather conditions of the last special section of that day. He regained the lead almost halfway through the second stage and never lost it again.
Leader at the end of the first two days of the competition, Bruno Magalhães gave up on Saturday with a mechanical failure. Such abandonment allowed Miguel Nunes, very fast in the second stage, in which he was the best in all the special stages, to rise even faster to the second place in which he crossed the finish line. Also very fast since the end of the first stage, José Pedro Fontes and his Citroën C3 Rally2 occupied the lowest place on the podium, which was equivalent to a victory in the National Championship.
