Being part of the party
João Silva is back to in the Rali Vinho da Madeira, an event in which he intends to "participate to be part of the great rallying festival. We are going to race with a Peugeot 208 Rally4, of two wheels. In our category there are cars with better performances but we will do everything to beat those adversaries. Last year I had a similar experience with a Renault Clio and now I am curious to compare both cars. I can only hope that this car will also be competitive. I am also happy because I will share again a racing car with João Paulo, with whom I already raced in 2010. We will try to have fun and do the best we know".
Silva is 34 years old and made his rallying debut in 2007 with a Toyota Yaris. He then moved to a Citroën C2 R2 and, in 2009, to a Renault Clio R3, with which he became famous. With this car he was Madeira Junior Champion that year and the following year, and also the best in his category in the national championship in 2011. In 2012 he participated in the WRC Academy with a Ford Fiesta R2. In 2017 he acquired a Citroën DS3 R5 and took his first absolute victory at the Calheta Rally. He was regional runner-up in 2017 and 2018. In recent years, he has practically only lined up in the Rali Vinho da Madeira, but in 2021 he won the Lisbon Rally.
