Filipe Freitas leads RGT

The excitement has also been a constant of the always very appreciated RGT with its powerful lines and mechanics. After the first two stages of Rali Vinho da Madeita, Gil Freitas was in the lead of this group, in what is his debut at the controls of an Alpine A110 RGT. However, Filipe Freitas moved ahead and leads the class halfway through the first special stage of the Club Sports da Madeira organisation. The Porsche 997 GT3 driver is followed at 4.4 seconds by Paulo Mendes, at the wheel of a car identical to his own. Gil Freitas is now third. In this group there were no withdraws and in the immediate places are Ivo Sardinha and the Azorean Luis Pimentel.

João Silva is first in the two-wheel drive

There has been a lot of excitement in the top classification of Rali Vinho da Madeira and the whole caravan organised by Club Sports da Madeira, which is happening this weekend. The emotion is also in the dispute of the success between the cars with two-wheel drive, category in which the five first positions are occupied by competitors of the Peugeot Rally Cup Iberica with their Peugeot 208 Rally4. João Silva was, so far the only driver who was faster in two different Special Stages, Cidade do Funchal and Cidade de Santana and the FX driver is also the leader with an advantage of 7,8 seconds over his opponent. The second is Pedro Antunes, the slowest in Palheiro Ferreiro, and the Spanish Sergi Perez, the third after having been the fastest in Campo de Golfe. The top 5 best so far include Vitor Sá and Hugo Lopes.

Due to an accident of car number 10, driven by Kris Meeke, Special Stage 3, Palheiro Ferreiro, was interrupted and has affected the competitors number 37, 38 and 39. Alexandre Camacho is in the lead of Rali Vinho da Madeira

After completing just over half of the first Special Stage of the event, which has been on the road since yesterday and until tomorrow. The Madeiran driver with a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo was the best in the fourth Special Stage, Santana 1, and has a 3.7 seconds lead over the previous leader, Giandomenico Basso, in an identical vehicle. Third and top of the national championship standings is José Pedro Fontes who, in a Citroën C3 Rally2, is 6.8 seconds behind the leader. Miguel Nunes crashed on the wet Santana road and fell many positions, now in seventh place. In the top five are Ricardo Teodósio, in a Hyundai i20N Rally2, and Simone Campedelli, in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, just under 20 seconds from the front of the competition. Rali Vinho da Madeira continues with a stop through the Service Park, in Funchal, and will compete this afternoon the third Special Stage, as a new leg through the same itinerary will take place tomorrow.

Giandomenico Basso is the leader of Rali Vinho da Madeira

Italian Giandomenico Basso is the new leader of Rali Vinho da Madeira, after completing the third Special Stage of the event, Palheiro Ferreiro 1. The Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo driver, the best in that Special Stage, also benefited from the withdrawal of the previous leader, Kris Meeke. In the remaining places of the rally's podium are the Madeirans Miguel Nunes and Alexandre Camacho, 2.0 and 2.4 seconds, respectively, from the driver in front. The Portuguese José Pedro Fontes and Ricardo Teodósio and the Italian Simone Campedelli follow in the standings.

Kris Meeke maintains leadership in Rali Vinho da Madeira

Britain's Kris Meeke has extended his lead at the front of Rali Vinho da Madeira. The Hyundai i20N Rally2 driver was fastest on the first pass through Campo de Golfe and now has a lead of 4.5 seconds over Alexandre Camacho from Madeira in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. The momentary podium of the Club Sports da Madeira organisation is the perfect mirror of the classification of the first Special Stage of the second day of competition. In the lowest place of the podium is the Italian Giandomenico Basso in another Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. In the next places are Ricardo Teodósio, in a Hyundai i20N Rallly2, Miguel Nunes, with Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, and José Pedro Fontes, in a Citroën C3 Rally2. The caravan now heads to Palheiro Ferreiro, the longest special stage of the event, with 19.05 km.
