It's all new

Alexandre Camacho will debut a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 at Rali Vinho da Madeira. The defending regional champion will also have a new navigator, the experienced Carlos Magalhães. The driver had ‘a very positive first contact with the car. I think we're working in the right direction to get a good base and a good job. We're going to have one more test and we'll have to make it competitive, so that we can fight for the top spots.

Even though it's only for one race, everything about this project is new. The Toyota is very different from the car I used to drive and which I already knew very well. However, we're going to maintain our usual dedication and commitment. The car seems quite good to me, with a good chassis, but it will be quite demanding to adapt to the 3-cylinder engine, which also has a different mode of use. Let's see if we can get it ready for Madeira’.

Camacho is 44 years old and his first rally was in 2001 with a Toyota Yaris. He won the FIA European Rally Trophy in 2018 and has been regional champion seven times, in 2008 and 2009 with a Peugeot 207 S2000, 2015 in a Porsche 997 GT3, 2017 in a Peugeot 208 T16, 2018 and 2019 at the wheel of a Skoda Fabia R5 and in 2023 using a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. With six wins, he is the record holder for victories in Rali Vinho da Madeira.
