Miguel Andrade is the Rally Madeira Legend winner

Miguel Andrade, behind the wheel of a Renault 5 GT Turbo, won the Rally Madeira Legend after a final head to head battle with Rui Conceição, in a Ford Escort RS Cosworth. The gap between the two first positions was just 1,7 seconds, the same difference that existed after the sixth special stage of the competition, as many competitors had to carefully drive the last stage due to an accident, without any serious consequences, of César Freitas with a Ford Escort Mk I. In the lowest position of the podium was João Martins, driving a Ford Escort Mk I, and one of the most cherished drivers of this rally from its beginning. In the following positions were Cláudio Nóbrega, one of the stars of the show, with a o Nissan Datsun 1200, and Eduardo Veiga, driver of the Ford Escort Mk II. No longer essential for the final outcome of the event, the rally ends with the special stage show at 19:17 hours at Avenida Sá Carneiro.      

Massimo Biasion planted a tree in Quinta do Furão

Quinta do Furão, the regrouping host between the second and third sections of Rally Madeira Legend, has added the name Massimo Biasion, star of the event, to the other highlighted celebrities of different areas, by planting a laurissilva tree, a symbol of a solution to decrease the carbon footprint. The name of the driver will be, as it is in the other celebrities’ trees, in a plaque with the information and date of the event.

Miguel Andrade is the new Rally Madeira Legend leader

Miguel Andrade, with a Renault 5 Gt Turbo, is the new leader of Rally Madeira Legend, after the two first sections of the event organized by Club sports da Madeira have finished. Rui Conceição, behind the wheel of a Ford Escort RS Cosworth, has already been leading the competition, but now is in the second position, 1,3 seconds of the leader. João Martins, in his Ford Escort Mk I, holds a position in the podium, as he is the third, 13,8 seconds from the leader. The competitors’ performance in Serra d’Água and Boaventura was cherished by the public that could not be indifferent with the performance of the drivers of the Legend Show that will not have a qualification. Rally Madeira Legend will be over by the end of this afternoon, after the battle in more than three special stages, Referta, at 16:11 hours, Quatro Estradas, at 16:32 hours, and Terreiro da Luta, at 16:57 hours. The competition is going to finish with the Special Stage in Avenida Sá Carneiro, starting at 19:17 hours.    

Rally Madeira Legend is again on the roads

It is on the roads again the second stage of Rally Madeira Legend. The racing cars performing in this event organized by Club Sports da Madeira left the Park Fermé, where it stayed overnight, driving towards the first service park. The second section foresees the battle between two stages, Serra d’Água, at 12:04 hours and Boaventura, at 12:43 hours. It ends with a regrouping in Quinta do Furão, at 13:18 hours.  

Gil Freitas is leading the Rally Madeira Legend

With the end of the first stage of Rally Madeira Legend, the double passage through a timed section of Palheiro Ferreiro with many spectators, Gil Freitas with a Subaru Impreza S14 WRC is leading the general standings. João Martins, behind the wheel of a Ford Escort Mk I is in the second position, already 41,8 seconds from the leader. Rui Conceição, in his Ford Escort RS Cosworth, is third with 15,7 seconds from the driver standing ahead of him. The last two positions of top 5 belong to Cláudio Nóbrega and Miguel Andrae, with, respectively, 1:03,2 and 1:12,0 from the leader. Throughout the first stage Marco Klenk, António Silva, Vasco Silva, Rui Cristóvão and António Abel withdrew from the competition.  Tomorrow, the second stage of this event, organized by Club Sports da Madeira, will be performed by five special stages. Rally Madeira Legend restarts at 10:38 hours with the service park, in Cais 8, at 10:43 hours. The teams will then race in Serra d’Água, at 12:04 hours, and Boaventura, at 12:48 hours, before regrouping in Quinta do Furão, at 13:18. The competition will restart at 15:48 hours for the race in Referta, at 16:11 hours; Quatro Estradas, at 16:32 hours, and Terreiro da Luta, at 16:57. The event will finish with the special stage show in Avenida Sá Carneiro, at 19:17.
