A victory in 2015 edition of Rali Vinho Madeira (RVM) would have a special taste for Bruno Magalhães.
On this date 16 years ago was the first appearance of the portuguese driver in madeiran event.
Bruno Magalhães. “Nothing is decided. We started well today, even with some risks. As we have some advantage now, we don't have to risk as much.”
Miguel Nunes: “We will try to get the first place. It is not easy, as Bruno Magalhães is very strong, but we are not throwing away the towell. We must drive at top speed, there is no time to be cautious, as José Pedro Fontes is very close.”
After 4 stages this morning, Bruno Magalhães leads and increases his advantage to Miguel Nunes.
Magalhães started the day in third place, but did not lose time and swept the madeiran away from the leadership, leaving him in second place, with José Pedro Fontes right behind less than 4 seconds away.
Alexandre Camacho keeps winning time, finishing the morning in fourth. The madeiran has taken back part of his yesterday's delay, caused by a puncture. Anyway he is 52 seconds behind the third, José Pedro Fontes, being the fight for the podium more difficult.
After two stages in this third day of the race, Bruno Magalhães became leader of Rali Vinho Madeira, with a 2.5 seconds advantage over Miguel Nunes.
José Pedro Fontes was the fastest in SS 13 - Ponta do Sol 1, with 5:15.1 and is now threatening the second place of Miguel Nunes, who did 5:18.4.
In this stage, Bruno Magalhães was third with 5:14.4.
Alexandre Camacho keeps recovering time. He was second (5:15.2) in Ponta do Sol 1 and is approaching João Barros' fourth place.
Bruno Magalhães was the fastest in the first SS of the day - Câmara de Lobos 1, with a time of 8:12.9.
He is now in second place, only half a second behind the leader Miguel Nunes, who did 8:18.2.
Madeiran Alexandre Camacho leads Rali Vinho Madeira (RVM), after the three stages run so far, with the time 21:27.5.
José Pedro Fontes is in second place (21:34.5)
The third fastest is the madeiran Miguel Nunes (21:35.5).
The winner of 2014 edition, Bruno Magalhães, is in seventh place (21:48.9)
His victories in 2011, 2012 and 2014 leave Bruno Magalhães one victory behind the italian Giandomenico Basso (winner in 2006, 2007, 2009 and 20013), in Rali Vinho Madeira (RVM) history. This is an additional interesting issue for the event and the Portuguese driver.
And the winner of 2015 edition of Rali Vinho Madeira is... Bruno Magalhães!
In the final section, the portuguese driver was not as afst as in the previous round, having left the victories for his rivals, but controlled his pace and assured his fourth victory in RVM.
Miguel Nunes, despite his efforts, was not able to retake the leadership, keeping the second place.
Bruno Magalhães did the second best time in Avenida do Mar super stage (1:44.2).
"The car was sliding away, I made some mistakes and, honestly, I was not expecting to do such a good time", aknowledged the portuguese driver when entering Parc fermé.
The difficulties felt with the car leave Bruno Magalhães "thinking on how to improve the car", to be able to face the second day of Rali Vinho Madeira. "We will think about what to do to solve the situation", he said.
