Diego Ruiloba loses ground in Rali Vinho da Madeira

Diego Ruiloba, at the wheel of a Citroën C3 Rally2, maintains his lead in the 65th Rali vinho da Madeira after half of the 4th section, the first of what is the event's third day of competition. The Spaniard wasn't among the fastest drivers in either Câmara de Lobos or Ponta do Sol and now has a lead of 6.3 seconds, when he started the special stage with a 10.7 second advantage over the rest of the caravan.

Hugo Lopes in the lead of Peugeot Rally Cup

Hugo Lopes is the leader of the Peugeot Rally Cup, a mono-brand competition that includes users of the French manufacturer's 208 Rally4 model, after completing the first special stage of the event organised by Club Sports da Madeira. The driver, who benefited from the retirements, both due to crashes, of Vítor Sá and Miguel Garcia, who until then had been ahead of him in the standings, has a lead of 48.0 seconds over Unai de la Dehesa. In third place is João Sousa from Madeira.

Rui Jorge Fernandes heads two-wheel drive

Rui Jorge Fernandes is the clear leader among the two-wheel drive drivers. The Renault Clio Rally4 driver won all the stages in his category on the second day of competition and now has a 39.7 second lead over his rival this season, Vasco Silva, in an identical car. Vítor Sá was also in second place in this class, but the Peugeot 208 Rally4 driver abandoned after crashing on the second pass through Palheiro Ferreiro. Hugo Lopes is next on the podium in another Peugeot 208 Rally4.

Alexandre Camacho is the best Madeiran

On his debut with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, Alexandre Camacho, third overall, is the best-placed Madeiran competitor in the 65th edition of the Rali Vinho Madeira, which has been on the road since yesterday and will conclude tomorrow, 3 August. In the "regional competition", the next best positions are held by Miguel Nunes and Miguel Caires, both in Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo.

Armindo Araújo continues to lead the national championship

Armindo Araújo, second overall in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, is the leader of Rali Vinho da Madeira in the Portuguese Rally Championship standings. The driver is in front with a lead of 14.8 seconds over José Pedro Fontes, in a Citroën C3 Rally2, and Ricardo Teodósio, in a Hyundai i20N Rally2 and 52.9 seconds behind the leader of this specific classification. The top five also includes Ernesto Cunha and Paulo Caldeira, both in Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo.

The lowest place on the podium at this stage of the race is occupied by Alexandre Camacho from Madeira, who is making his debut in this event in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. Fourth place goes to Miguel Nunes, in his usual Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, followed by José Pedro Fontes, in a Citroën C3 Rally2, and Ricardo Teodósio in a Hyundai. Rali Vinho da Madeira returns to the road tomorrow for the third and final day of competition, when the caravan will make a double round through Câmara de Lobos, Ponta do Sol, Calheta and Rosário.
