"We are all aware of the importance of this Rally" - Madeira's Regional Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Culture
The Regional Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, who was present at the press conference, stressed that Rali Vinho da Madeira is "one of those incontestable events" and that everyone has "the notion of the importance and opportunity of this rally."
"This is an event of great importance for us because it helps to complement the range of events Madeira offers", he noted, stressing the "bridge" that the rally provides, being a "sporting event that captures, disseminates and promotes Madeira Island, but, simultaneously, creates an enormous empathy with the people of Madeira".
Eduardo Jesus advanced that, over the past 11 years, the support of the Regional Government to Rally has been around 6 million euros. "It is, without a doubt, the greatest support that the Regional Government gives an event with these characteristics," he said. The Secretary made a point of stressing the Organization's running of event, as well as the support from sponsors.
As for the coming of the world-class driver Stephane Lefebvre, the Regional Secretary joked and said that the presence of the French pilot will become "even more tasty a victory by a Madeiran driver or co-driver or co-pilot", referring to Pedro Calado who was also present at this press conference.
